A cellular phone company is important to all cellular users. They determine the fees, types of phones available, rate plan rates and the service area.  The stability of their service will directly effect how well your phone works in areas of hills or mountains. 

In most areas of the country there are only a handful of dominant cellular companies.  It is best to be a customer of the more popular ones because those companies could the most cellular phone towers available in your area. This is important because you will be able to get more service in your area.  Having a cellular service without towers within your area will do you no good.  In order to have signal in your area, there must be many towers. 

On the other hand, you have to be able to depend on your cellular phone company. You need to be able to purchase a plan that works for you and within your budget.  It is good to set a budget because most cellular phone companies have a wide range of plans.  However, do not expect to get lots of peak minutes for a low price. Be realistic in the amount of time spent on the phone before heading out to a local dealer.  Always get a plan that have more minutes in it than you need. This will save you from going over your allotted minutes and having to pay per minute.

Most companies offer you features such as Internet chatting, text messaging, email, and picture exchanging.  If those interest you, make sure the company you decide to do business with offers them in a plan to make it less expensive. 

When picking a cell phone company, you need to understand what you expect from them.  Once you know exactly what you want in phones and plans you can start your search.  If you feel that a company cannot offer you what you want, search for another one. In addition, it is good to ask other cell phone users what they think about their provider.  Be sure to get a lot of opinions because some areas of the country may not have service quite as comparable to yours.  Do not compare apples and oranges, so to speak.
